MPP Oosterhoff Welcomes Students and Teachers Back to Classrooms in NiagaraPublished on September 07, 2020
Beamsville - Sam Oosterhoff, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education and MPP for Niagara West, welcomes students back to classrooms and online leaning platforms for the new school year across Niagara in the District School Board of Niagara, Niagara Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.
"I have interacted with a number of educators, students and parents in Niagara West, as well as through ministry consultations in my role as Parliamentary Assistant," said MPP Oosterhoff.
"And while the first day of school can be an anxious time for students and teachers alike, especially in the context of COVID-19, we are confident our skilled and experienced educators, administrators and school transportation providers across all four Niagara school boards will begin the fall semester with professionalism and pride. Our government's back-to-school plan, based on extensive consultation with leading medical experts and approved by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, is the strongest in Canada. Our operational guidance document provides the most comprehensive masking policy, as well as cleaning, testing and staffing supports - to keep students and teachers safe."
"While COVID-19 has forced upon us many changes to our schools and our lives, some things remain constant. The importance of quality education, our collective mental health, and the safety of our students and staff," said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education.
"This year is like no other in our past. I am fiercely proud of our province, and our collective efforts. We will overcome any challenge on the horizon, so long as we continue to work together in the interests of our students and aggressively work to stop the spread in our communities."
